Dr Bikram Timilsina is Chair and Director of the Asian Institute for Advanced Research (AIFAR). He also works at Tribhuvan University as a part-time Lecturer in its Master of Governance and Anti-Corruption Studies program. He is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Environment and Population Health (CEPH), Griffith University. In addition, he is Secretary of Nepal-Australia Research and Development Society (NARDS).

Dr Timilsina completed a PhD in politics and international relations from Griffith University in 2022. Before his PhD, he completed his Master of International Studies (Advanced) at the University of Queensland and Master's Degree in English at Tribhuvan University. Before pursuing a research career, he was involved in Nepal's education and media sectors for almost a decade and half.

Dr Timilsina is an interdisciplinary researcher with a broad range of research interests and has conducted extensive research on a wide range of topics such as politics, geopolitics, climate change, health, peace processes, conflict management, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and women's empowerment. He has published book chapters, journal articles, and op-eds in his areas of interest in national and international platforms. He has also presented his academic findings at several international conferences.

Dr. Timilsina has also been actively involved in policy-making and advocacy efforts, working closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, and international development agencies to address some of the most pressing global issues. Through research and advocacy, he has a profound interest to work towards improving the lives of marginalized communities and promoting social justice.
